When visiting Bali should not only to Ubud or Kuta Beach, I suggest you visit a beach that is unique, namely Candi Dasa. This beach is situated on steeply sloping hills, on the highway between the City Semarapura with Amlapura city, located about 50 km eastwards from Denpasar town is within approximately 45 minutes from Denpasar by vehicles through the streets Prof.Dr.Ida Bagus Mantra.
In front of Candi Dasa there is a large pond and from there also we can enjoy beautiful coastal scenery, the sea of vast stretches of Lombok Strait and from the island of Nusa Penida here also clearly visible.
Candidasa is a major destination of the tourists who come to Bali, located in the region Bugbug, Karangasem district. Candi Dasa is highly suitable for water sports like swimming, diving and snorkeling. You can also see several small island which can be reached with a fishing boat (jukung). You will enjoy the underwater panorama of coral reefs and beautiful fishes.
One story that became the myth of the existence of a growing Candidasa temple and is believed by local people is the statue of Goddess Hariti located in a niche at the bottom of the cliff of the hill. It is said that Goddess Hariti narrated in the beginning was a Yaksa in Buddhism, who liked to eat the flesh of children. But after getting enlightenment teachings of Buddhism, the Goddess and then repent and turn to protective and loving children.
Goddess statue carved with Hariti further 10 people surounded by children, as a protective symbol, affectionate, and also as a symbol of fertility and prosperity. Local people believe that the Goddess Hariti means many mothers have children who can give gifts of fertility and prosperity. Therefore, the place is much visited and utilized by the husband - wife who is not blessed with offspring to request prayers by bringing offerings dedicated to the Goddess Hariti.
